Despite, the last three year’s Somalia’s Ministry of Education, Culture & Higher Education continued threats and intimidations against Somalia’s private higher education institution in which causes the formation of the Federation of Somalia Universities (FESU) and are still going on FESU decides to share-out the matter to the International Human Rights groups due to let them know its fellows rights abuse from the ministry leaders.

“Obviously, freedom of association is one of the most basic rights enjoyed by humans. It ensures that every individual is free to organize and to form and participate in groups, either formally or informally according to the UN  convensions and the Federal Constitutions” said Dr. Daud Abdi Daud who heads FESU.

 “FESU was created under the auspices from Somalia media professionals including me in October 21, 2022 just to reunite Somalia’s private sector higher education institutions. It is a membership-based organization serving as private and nonprofit Community Based Organization (CBO) and as education programs working NGO in the national higher education community sector through: expertise & trends analysis, publications & portals, advisory services, peer-to-peer learning, events as well as doing national, regional, continental and global level advocacy by developing Somalia higher education system” Dr. Daud added

Currently, the ongoing widespread corruption, human rights abuses and the repeated violations against FESU and its members and non-members planning to join is too high, as well as the disregard for the Constitutional rights for our registration.

 that has not only paralyzed all education projects but has also eroded trust in the ministry’s ability to lead the future of our nation’s education system.

FESU is an institutional Media Network of Universities from the different federal states including Benadir region and it is currently made up of 20th universities from five federal regions of Somalia.

FESU is committed to enhancing employability and driving innovation through university-industry engagement. We are a knowledge advertiser, developer and engineering leader on university-industry interaction and admissions exhibitions, such interactive projects need an entrepreneurial university dedicated to the future of higher education institutions integrity and forwards and as well as their impacts on society. We conduct research, festivals, organize events and provide training and consultancy services to our community of members.

We call the UNESCO to intervene the situation as well as we call other International Human rights organizations to come up with a plan in which they can help improve our rights for freedom of association and assembly. Continue reading the full article!
