Federation of African Universities (FAU) presents the University Impact Rankings for 2023, identifying and celebrating universities that excel across multiple United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). As result of that, The UN SDG Action Awards, a signature programme of the African Union SDG Action Campaign, champions initiatives and committed institutions who are wielding the power of creativity and innovation to bring us closer to a more sustainable, equitable and peaceful world.

Not only do these institutions stand out in individual areas but they also demonstrate comprehensive excellence in contributing to global sustainable development. By excelling in a variety of SDGs, these universities showcase their commitment to addressing the world’s most pressing challenges, including environmental sustainability, social inclusion, economic growth and partnerships.

We are actively collaborating with both government and non-governmental agencies to drive policy and progress towards achieving the SDGs. For example, University of Galway was designated as a National SDG Champion for 2023-24 by the Department of the Environment, Climate and Communications. We are the first University in Ireland to hold this honour and as part of our Champion tenure we hosted the Government of Ireland national SDG Champions on campus for a day of discussion and SDG Champions Dialogue on the themes of Climate Action (SDG 13) and Partnerships (SDG17).

Each year, a selected 24 Higher Education Institutions from across Africa will be awarded and honored the bilateral SDG Award from the Federation of African Universities (FAU) and the African Union (AU).

On Tuesday 28th June, St. Paul’s University (SPU) was privileged to host the first Africa for SDG’s Fellows Awards ceremony that brought together participants in the Education for Sustainable.

Outer space is of critical importance to the development of Africa in all fields however each institution should rightfully pay $270 USD as admission and registration fee.
