University of Nairobi
The University of Nairobi is a collegiate research university based in Nairobi. It is the largest university in Kenya. Although its history as an educational institution dates back to 1956, it did not become an independent university until 1970.

Makerere University
Makerere University, Kampala is Uganda’s largest and oldest institution of higher learning, first established as a technical school in 1922. It became an independent national university in 1970.
Established in 1922 as a humble technical school, Makerere University is one of the oldest and most prestigious Universities in Africa. In January of that year, the school, which was later renamed Uganda Technical College, opened its doors to 14 day students who began studying Carpentry, Building and Mechanics.
The College soon began offering various other courses in Medical Care, Agriculture , Veterinary Sciences and Teacher Training. It expanded over the years to become a Center for Higher Education in East Africa in 1935. In 1937, the College started developing into an institution of higher education, offering post-school certificate courses.
University of Zimbabwe
The University of Zimbabwe is a public university in Harare, Zimbabwe. It opened in 1952 as the University College of Rhodesia and Nyasaland, and was initially affiliated with the University of London. It was later renamed the University of Rhodesia, and adopted its present name upon Zimbabwe’s independence in 1980.

University of Witwatersrand
Wits University is situated in Johannesburg, South Africa – a vibrant, leading commercial city on the African continent. The history of Wits is linked with mining, academic excellence, and with political and civic activism.
The origins of Wits University lie in the South African School of Mines, which was established in Kimberley in 1896 and transferred to Johannesburg as the Transvaal Technical Institute in 1904, becoming the Transvaal University College in 1906 and renamed the South African School of Mines and Technology four years later. Other departments were added as Johannesburg grew and in 1920 the name was changed to the University College, Johannesburg. Full university status was granted in 1922, incorporating the College as the University of the Witwatersrand, with effect 1 March. Seven months later the inauguration of the University was duly celebrated. Prince Arthur of Connaught, Governor-General of the Union of South Africa, became the University’s first Chancellor, and Professor Jan H. Hofmeyr its first Principal. Building began at Milner Park on a site donated to the University by the Johannesburg municipality.

The seed of Bayero University Kano was the Ahmadu Bello College set up in 1960, located within the School for Arabic Studies (SAS), in the old city of Kano. With the establishment of Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, in 1962, it was renamed Abdullahi Bayero College. In 1964 it moved to a temporary site at the old Kano Airport Hotel, admitting its first set of ten undergraduate students for a B.A. degree programme of Ahmadu Bello University.

Sefako Makgatho Health Sciences University (SMU) was established when the Minister of Higher Education and Training, Dr Blade Nzimande in terms of section 20 of the Higher Education Act 1997 (Act 101 of 1997), promulgated the Sefako Makgatho Health Sciences University (SMU) in the SA Government Gazette no: 37658 of 16 May 2014.
The promulgation followed the announcement made in 2011, by Minister Nzimande, when he announced his intention to separate the Medunsa Campus from the University of Limpopo. The minister’s intention was based on the findings and recommendations of the task team that was established and led by Prof Malegapuru Makgoba, former Vice-Chancellor of University of Kwa-Zulu Natal (UKZN) and Dr Max Price, the Vice-Chancellor of University of Cape Town (UCT).

Redeemers University
It has always been the desire of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) to make input into university education in Nigeria, having been convinced of the great role university education can play in the social and technological development of a nation. University of Dar es salaam
The University of Dar es Salaam is the oldest and biggest public university in Tanzania. It is situated on the western side of the city of Dar es Salaam, occupying 1,625 acres on the observation hill, 13 kilometers from the city centre. It was established on 1st July 1970, through parliament act no. 12 of 1970 and all the enabling legal instruments of the constituent colleges.

The University of Sierra Leone (USL) is currently made up of three constituent colleges/campuses.
Fourah Bay College (FBC), the first college which specialises in the Arts, Humanities, Social Sciences, Law, Pure and Applied Sciences, Engineering and Architecture, was founded on the 18th of February 1827, by the Church Missionary Society. In 1967, the College was merged with Njala University College, Moyamba District, to become the University of Sierra Leone, with a federal system. This was replaced in 1972 by a unitary structure which came to include the Institute of Public Administration and Management (IPAM), established in 1980 to train civil servants. IPAM subsequently evolved into an institution which trains administrators and managers. It is currently the Business arm of USL. The Third constituent campus is the College of Medicine and Allied Health Sciences (COMAHS) which was established in 1988. It trains doctors, pharmacists, nurses, laboratory scientists and other allied health professionals.

Benson Idahosa University is a private, Christian university in Benin City, Edo State, Nigeria. Previously named Christian Faith University, it was renamed in honor of Archbishop Benson Idahosa, a Charismatic Pentecostal minister from Benin City, Nigeria, and reflects his evangelical beliefs. Nnamdi Azikwe University

Rongo University
Welcome to Rongo University (RU), a prestigious institution with a rich history that dates back to the early 1970s. Initially known as Kitere Technical School, it was established by the local community as a craft apprenticeship training center.
In the 1980s, there was a growing demand for technical and vocational training in the Southern Nyanza region. Recognizing this need, a lobby group called the Union of South Nyanza Welfare Association (USNWA) approached President Daniel Arap Moi to transform Kitere Technical School into a public institution. President Moi not only agreed to their request but also gave his consent for the institute to be named after him. Thus, Moi Institute of Technology (MIT) was established in 1983.
In 2007, Moi University and Moi Institute of Technology signed a memorandum of understanding. This partnership allowed MIT to offer diploma and undergraduate programs in education, business, and human resource management as a satellite campus. The first batch of 100 students, supported by the Rongo Constituency Development Fund, was admitted in January 2008.
After four years of collaboration, the government elevated Moi Institute of Technology to Rongo University College, which became a constituent college of Moi University on June 22, 2012.
Finally, on October 7, 2016, Rongo University College achieved a significant milestone when it was granted a charter by President Uhuru Kenyatta, officially becoming a full-fledged public university. Situated 11 kilometers from Rongo Town and 2.5 kilometers off the Rongo-Migori Highway, the university proudly serves a student population of over 6,000, enrolled in both government-sponsored and self-sponsorship programs. We have a dedicated staff of 458 members.

Strathmore College was started in 1961 as an Advanced-level Sixth Form College offering Science and Arts subjects by a group of professionals, who formed a charitable Educational Trust (now the Strathmore Educational Trust). Strathmore College was the first in Pre-independence Kenya to accommodate all races, religions, and social standing. Saint Josemaría Escrivá, the founder of Opus Dei, inspired and encouraged them to start the College.

At the beginning the institution was established as Gambella Agricultural, Technical, Vocational and Educational Training (GATVET) College which was organized and managed by the former Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development and GPNRS and Bureau of Agriculture and Rural Development from 2002 to 2012 to produce middle level Agricultural Developmental Agents. During ten years (2002-2012) more than 1,950 students were graduated on Animal Science, Natural Resource, Plant Science and Cooperative Departments in the Diploma program / (level IV). Moreover, more than 493 General Agriculture students were graduated within the Certificate Program.
