African Union convenes technical consultation meeting in cooperation with the Federation of African Universities (FAU) to shape the implementation plan for CESA 26-35.

The African Union Commission (AUC) convenes the Technical Consultation Meeting of the Technical Working Group (TWG) to draft the Implementation Plan for the Continental Education Strategy for Africa (CESA 26–35), in Nairobi, from 15 to 16 May 2025.

Education stands at the heart of Africa’s sustainable development and economic transformation. Building on the progress and lessons learned from the previous strategy, CESA 16–25, this meeting marks a key step toward shaping a renewed implementation framework that guides the continent’s education agenda for the next decade. CESA 26–35 aims to accelerate the realization of Agenda 2063: The Africa We Want and Sustainable Development Goal 4 (SDG4) by promoting inclusive, equitable and quality education for all.

The Technical Working Group brings together representatives from AU Member States, United Nations agencies, Regional Economic Communities (RECs), development partners, academia, civil society and private sector actors. This broad and inclusive composition ensures a collaborative, multi-sectoral and evidence-based process for developing the new implementation plan. Continue reading.
