What Is a Board of Directors?
A board of directors (BofD) is the governing body of a company, whose members are elected by shareholders (in the case of public companies) to set strategy, oversee management, and protect the interests of shareholders and the company.
Our mandate at the Federation of African Universities (FAU) is to support, promote and advance the African higher education institutions in across the Africa. We have made it our business to encourage membership in every part of the continent, especially countries in what is known as sub-Saharan Africa, with good reason.
The back story
Higher Education Institutions has real, practical and measurable value. Good education informs and enables people to make life-saving and life-altering decisions, whether that’s to have a vaccination or to vote for a party that offers a workable energy plan. The importance of our role of translating knowledge and applied in higher education system for large audiences has been starkly illustrated in the last few years.
