Islamic University in Uganda (IUIU) participated in the 6th Annual Higher Education Conference, held from March 24–25, 2025, at Hotel Triangle, Mbarara City. The conference, organized by the National Council for Higher Education (NCHE), focused on “Challenges, Best Practices, and Strategies for Artificial Intelligence Integration in Higher Education in Uganda.”

IUIU was represented by Four staff members led by Dr. Jamil Serwanga (Vice Rector, Academic Affairs), Dr. Kamonges Wahab (Lecturer, Faculty of Education), Mr. Solimo Rajab (Lecturer, Faculty of Science, Computer Science) and Mr. Chekwoti Aramadhan (Lecturer, Faculty of Science, Computer Science).

They presented a research paper titled: “Artificial Intelligence Adaptation in Higher Education: Supervisor’s Ease or Difficulty in Detecting AI-Generated Content in Postgraduate Research.” The study addressed critical challenges in academic integrity amid AI tools like ChatGPT, offering insights for policymakers and educators.

The event was officiated by Hon. Janet Kataaha Museveni, First Lady and Minister of Education and Sports of Uganda. Keynote speaker Prof. Azra Naseem (Aga Khan University) delivered an address on “AI in Higher Education: Policies, Regulations, and Adoption Strategies for Sustainable Transformation.”
