And over the past two decades, Africa has improved children&#8217;s access to education thanks to commitment and action by the continent&#8217;s leadership. While progress has been promising, challenges remain. In Sub-Saharan Africa,\u00a0<strong>9 out of 10 children<\/strong>\u00a0cannot read and understand a simple text by age 10.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>By 2050,\u00a0Africa will be home to\u00a0<strong>1 billion children and adolescents<\/strong>. They cannot be left behind. They urgently need\u00a0quality education, adequate skills and opportunities<strong>.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A high-level event on transforming education in Africa.
