The event was presided over by Assoc. Prof. Hannington Twinomuhwezi, Dean of SONAS.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dr. Kassim delivered an inspiring public lecture titled \u201cBuilding a Strong Foundation for an Impactful Career in Agriculture.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He emphasized the importance of such engagements, noting that they not only expose students to industry trends but also help them develop essential social skills and networks. These, he explained, are critical in laying a strong foundation for future careers and entrepreneurial ventures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He highlighted the evolving expectations of employers:<br><em>\u201cIn the past, intelligence was enough. But today, employers look for character, integrity, and innovation. To remain relevant, you must continuously improve your skills, be innovative, and focus on solving problems within your community.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dr. Kassim also urged young people to resist the temptation of seeking opportunities abroad without first addressing challenges at home.<br><em>\u201cAt the airport, I see many youth leaving the country in search of jobs. But don\u2019t run away\u2014face the problems here and solve them, especially in agriculture, where malnutrition remains a pressing issue.
