Ms. Nagadya Hamidah, a lecturer at IUIU Faculty of Law, presented a Paper on Gender Equity at the International Interdisciplinary Consortium Africa Conference on November 6, 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The event was held at Kyambogo University, bringing together partner institutions including Mount Kenya University, the University of Eldoret, the University of Makeni, Vincent Pol University, and Kyambogo University. It was attended by several distinguished scholars and dignitaries from across Africa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The paper presented by Ms Nagadya, titled \u201cAnalyzing Barriers to Gender Equity in Ugandan Higher Education,\u201d explored the persistent challenges affecting the implementation and enforcement of gender equity laws within Uganda\u2019s higher education institutions. Ms. Hamidah observed that while Uganda\u2019s legal framework on gender equity is comprehensive, the main challenge lies in implementation and enforcement \u2014 the laws remain on paper but are not effectively translated into action.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In her presentation, Ms. Hamidah emphasized that bridging this gap requires enhancing institutional units and regulatory oversight, promoting women\u2019s leadership mentorship programmes, expanding inclusive leadership opportunities, and strengthening enforcement mechanisms, accountability frameworks, and systematic monitoring, evaluation, and reporting systems. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
