{"id":1421,"date":"2025-09-22T13:02:00","date_gmt":"2025-09-22T13:02:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/whedafrica.org\/?p=1421"},"modified":"2025-09-29T13:03:52","modified_gmt":"2025-09-29T13:03:52","slug":"iuiu-hosts-lecture-on-islamic-golden-age-and-legacy-of-muslim-polymaths","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/whedafrica.org\/index.php\/2025\/09\/22\/iuiu-hosts-lecture-on-islamic-golden-age-and-legacy-of-muslim-polymaths\/","title":{"rendered":"IUIU Hosts Lecture on Islamic Golden Age and Legacy of Muslim Polymaths"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The Islamic University in Uganda (IUIU) on Tuesday, 16th September 2025, hosted an engaging lecture at its Main Campus in Mbale under the theme&nbsp;<em>\u201cThe Islamic Golden Age: The Legacy of Muslim Polymaths as Pioneers of Science and Civilisation.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.iuiu.ac.ug\/assets\/media\/images\/iuiu-hosts-lecture-on-islamic-golden-age-and-legacy-of-muslim-polymaths_1758535220.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The lecture, delivered by Dr. AbdulSwamad Gyagenda, a lecturer in the Department of Islamic Studies and Deputy Director, Research, Publication and Innovation, who explored the immense contributions of Muslim scholars during the Golden Age (8th\u201313th centuries).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dr. AbdulSwamad highlighted how centres such as the&nbsp;<em>Baitul Hikmah (House of Wisdom)<\/em>&nbsp;in Baghdad became hubs of knowledge, where Muslim polymaths like Ibn Sina, Al-Razi, Al-Khawarizmi, and Ibn Haytham advanced medicine, mathematics, chemistry, astronomy, and philosophy.
