The University of Ghana, through its Institute of Applied Science and Technology (IAST), has signed a five-year Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) Ghana to strengthen collaboration in key areas including research, training, student internships, public health and safety, and other educational outreach initiatives.<\/p>\n\n\n

The agreement marks a significant step toward enhancing knowledge exchange and institutional partnerships between academia and regulatory authorities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The MoU was signed on behalf of the University by Prof. Gordon Awandare, Pro Vice-Chancellor in charge of Academic and Student Affairs, and Dr. Henry Ofosuhene Sintim, Acting Director of IAST. Signing on behalf of the FDA were Mr. Seth Seaneke, Deputy Chief Executive Officer, and Dr. Cheetham Mingle, Head of Research and Nutrition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Speaking at the brief signing ceremony, Prof. Awandare commended the FDA for its proactive approach in engaging with academic institutions. He noted that addressing graduate unemployment and improving workforce readiness calls for deeper collaboration between universities, industry players, and regulators. \u201cBy working together, we can create pathways for students to gain practical experience while also contributing to national development through research and innovation,\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mr. Seaneke, on his part, expressed the FDA\u2019s enthusiasm about the partnership and its potential to make lasting impact. \u201cWe look forward to fruitful collaboration that will go beyond compliance and regulation to include knowledge creation, innovation, and capacity building,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Other officials from both the University and the Authority were present to witness the signing, which is expected to serve as a catalyst for joint projects and mutual capacity development over the next five years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The MoU aligns with the University\u2019s strategic focus on impactful research, transformative student experiences, and partnerships that foster sustainable national development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
